Why Pre-Care is Essential for Gorgeous, Permanent Makeup Results

Gorgeous Results Start with Proper Prep: Why Pre-Care Matters

Hello Beautiful,

When it comes to permanent makeup, proper pre-care is more than just a suggestion—it’s essential! Following these guidelines reduces the risk of complications, ensures optimal pigment retention, and helps your skin heal smoothly.

Here’s why it’s so important:

1. Minimizes Complications Prepping your skin can significantly lower the chance of adverse reactions. By avoiding certain medications, alcohol, and harsh products before your appointment, you help maintain your skin’s integrity, reducing the risk of sensitivity, irritation, and bleeding during the procedure.

2. Enhances Pigment Retention Pre-care is not just about protecting your skin; it’s about creating the perfect canvas for optimal results. When your skin is properly prepped, the pigment penetrates more effectively and settles evenly, giving you long-lasting, beautiful results. Hydrated skin also absorbs the pigment more uniformly, making your new look flawless.

3. Promotes Faster Healing Well-prepped skin heals faster and more evenly. By avoiding sun exposure and certain skincare treatments, you give your skin the best chance to recover smoothly, ensuring your permanent makeup lasts longer and heals without complications.

How to Prepare for Your Appointment

  • Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! The more hydrated your skin, the better it tolerates the procedure. Ensure you're using a gentle motiuze and drinking plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment. This is especially crucial for lip blush treatments. In addition to hydration, consider giving your skin a gentle DIY exfoliation with sugar and coconut oil a few days before your appointment to create the best canvas.

  • Sunscreen Protection Limit sun exposure before your appointment. Tanned or sunburned skin can make it harder for your artist to match the natural undertones of your skin and may increase the risk of complications like pigment shifting. It’s crucial to avoid recent sun damage. Especially a sun burn, as we can’t tattoo sunburnt or irrupted skin.

  • Retinols and Anti-Aging Skincare Stop using retinol, exfoliants, and skin-lightening products at least two weeks prior. These products can sensitize your skin, which may affect the procedure’s outcome.

  • Blood-Thinners Avoid blood-thinning supplements like fish oils and NSAIDs such as Advil, as these can increase the risk of bleeding during the procedure, impacting pigment retention and results. Always consult your doctor if these are prescribed.

  • Alcohol and caffeine Both should be avoided for 24 hours before your appointment. These can increase sensitivity, the likelihood of bleeding, and make it harder to relax and remain still during the procedure.

A detailed List of all pre-care instruction for each service can be found here. Prioritizing your comfort and the outcome of the treatment is essential, so please follow these precautions for the best results.
